Our wedding night

Ahh, the wedding night.  A night of romance and intrigue! Or, the night that you get less than 2 hours of sleep on an airbed in your sister’s old room with your new husband…More on that in a minute…

After the wedding, we had to clean everything up.  We were able to leave a few things for later in one of the rooms, but mostly we had to get everything out of there.  Everyone kept telling me to just sit and relax, but of course I couldn’t do that so I helped gather up our gifts and cards.  The caterer brought us all of our leftovers.  It really didn’t take too long to clean up since lots of family members stayed to help.

The day before, Bill and I were talking about the hotel room that we had booked and realized that we didn’t really want it.  Our flight left at 6am for our honeymoon and the reception went until 11.  I also wanted to squeeze every last minute with my family, so Bill begged the hotel to let us cancel and they did!

Once everything was cleaned up, we headed back home to my parents’ house. I ran around the house suddenly full of energy, twirling about in my dress.  Eventually I ended up in my mom’s room and declared that I never wanted to take off my dress! All good things must come to an end, though, so she helped me get out of it and then I headed back downstairs.

Had to get a picture with Phoebe once we were back home!

We gathered in the living room and then we opened all of our gifts and read through all of our cards! Abbie recorded who gave us what, but we were all a little delirious at that point so we had some mixed up records LOL. I attempted to wrap up our cake to preserve it to eat at our one year anniversary, but I did not do a very good job.  Abbie couldn’t stop laughing at me and ended up redoing it for us.

By the time that was all said and done, it was about 2:30 a.m. and we had to be up at 4:00 to leave for our flight! We all headed to bed and 1.5 hours later, we were up and showering before our trip to the airport!

And that wraps up our wedding recap posts, but don’t worry, there are more wedding posts to come!!

Up next: the proposal(s)

  1. Awww, that's sweet that you all spent more time with your family. I remember waking up super early to get a bunch of stuff to my mom's room before leaving for our honeymoon. I also basically forgot that I was supposed to pack for the honeymoon, so I don't think I had many clothes. We only did a short minimoon so it worked out, but yeahhhhh I didn't pack anything besides my wedding dress and accessories for the rehearsal dinner. #oops. lol
